Bay Street Theatre Announces Their Summer Music Camp

Bay-Street-Theatre-Announces-Their-Summer-Music-Camp-20010101

Bay Street Theatre is pleased to announce the ever popular MUSIC THEATRE CAMPS are returning August 1-5 and 8-12; 1:30-4 pm daily. Back by popular demand, each week long session includes classes and games incorporating every aspect of theater including: acting, singing, performance and dance. Students write and perform in their own mini-musical!

From August 1-5, camp is led by Debra Barsha, a professional teacher as well as Broadway performer and musician. She is the current pianist, and Associate Conductor of Broadway's Jersey Boys. Beyond her performing talents, Barsha is also known for her songwriting, and she has penned a number of musicals for both children and adults alike. "I tell the kids in theater class that there is no such thing as a mistake. It's one of the only places in their lives they will ever hear that. As long as you are in character, you are allowed to be and do anything you want!" says Debra.

The August 8-12 camp is led by Marcy McGuigan. McGuigan is a stage, television/video actress, singer, comedienne, educator and musician. Known for her vivid characterizations and impersonations, McGuigan is comfortable performing leading ladies as well as supportive side kick characters. She played Dorothy Brock in the 42ND STREET National Tour (Carbonelle Nomination). New York credits include: THE DIVINE SISTER, MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS, A WONDERFUL LIFE, SHANGHAI MOON, SWINGTIME CANTEEN, IT'S NOT MY FAULT, TIMES SQUARE ANGEL, BOX OFFICE OF THE DAMNED. Regional credits include: Bay Street Theatre, Westport Country Playhouse, Portland Stage Company, Walnut Street Theatre, Florida Repertory Theatre, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, The Asolo, Charlotte Repertory Theatre, Barrington Stage Company, Gateway Playhouse and Flat Rock Playhouse. Television and film include GTA 4, THE CENTENARIAN, GHOST STORIES, Conan O'Brien, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, THE TODAY SHOW, ROCK STAR GAMES. She is currently on the faculty of The New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in NYC.

Theatre Camp is recommended for children ages 8 to 12 years old. The cost for one-week is $375 per child. Students are required to dress in comfortable clothes and bring their willingness to learn. Bay Street will provide the rest, including a snack. Class size is limited and fills up quickly. These camps sell, so call Bay Street's Administration Office at 631-725-0818 to sign up today. For more information, go to www.baystreet.org or visit the Box Office Mon-Sat. 11 am - 5 pm. Sundays 3 pm - 7 pm.

Bay Street Theatre is a not-for-profit institution presenting new, classic and contemporary works with a commitment to challenging and entertaining our diverse community. This commitment extends to educational programs for all ages to foster the continued value of theatre as a vital art form for future generations.
