BWW Reviews: Theatre Three's A CHRISTMAS CAROL - Tradition At Its Finest

Theatre-Threes-A-Christmas-Carol-Tradition-at-its-finest-20010101

Port Jefferson's Theatre Three thrills Main Street once again with their 29th annual production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Now running through December 29th, this beautiful production and cast will surely get you into the Christmas spirit.

The familiar classic, set in London in the 19th century, follows miserable old miser Ebenezer Scrooge. He is visited by three ghosts to rid him of his nasty ways and get him to be kind, help the poor, and ultimately find the Christmas spirit.

Leading the brilliant cast for his 25th year as Ebenezer Scrooge is Jeffrey Sanzel who also directs this production. Mr. Sanzel makes a wonderful Scrooge. His take as they go from Scrooge's youthful past to becoming a crotchety, greedy business owner is really the best around.

Additionally, another standout among the cast was Theatre Three vet Steve McCoy as Jacob Marley, Scrooge's deceased business partner. As he rose up from the floor as a ghost chillingly bellowing Scrooge's name, people jumped in their seats.

The costumes, done by Randall Parsons and Bonnie Vidal, were great. The most elaborate costume was donned by James D. Schultz as The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. James did a great job operating this costume. Yes, operated. The faceless undertaker-like ghost stood almost to the top of the stage, literally. As he maneuvered back and forth, fog and lighting surrounded the stage and his arms opened abruptly to the sound of thunder as he was taking Scrooge into his future.
